BatNote Ltd ("BatNote", "we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the BatNote mobile application and the BatNote website.

BatNote is a field-first iOS application designed for professional ecological workflows, helping surveyors record bat emergence survey observations and generate structured reports.

Survey Data

BatNote allows users to record survey information such as site location, GPS coordinates, OS grid references, survey times, weather conditions, equipment used, bat species observations, notes, and photographs.

This data is entered by the user during surveys and is stored locally on the user’s device. BatNote does not transmit or store survey data on BatNote servers.

Users may choose to export this information as a PDF survey report.

Report Generation

BatNote can generate PDF survey reports using the data recorded within the app. These reports may include survey metadata, environmental conditions, site maps, observation logs and user notes.

Reports are generated locally on the device. BatNote does not receive or store copies of generated reports.

Location Information

BatNote may use device location services to determine survey coordinates, generate OS grid references, display map locations and retrieve weather data relevant to the survey.

Location information is used only within the application and remains stored locally on the user’s device unless included in an exported report.

Weather Data

BatNote may retrieve weather information from third-party weather services based on the survey location and time. This may include temperature, wind speed, humidity, cloud cover, sunset times and moon phase.

This information is used to support ecological survey documentation.

Website Analytics

We may use privacy-friendly analytics to understand basic website usage such as page visits, device type or general region in order to improve the BatNote website.

BatNote does not sell personal data.

Emails for Updates

If you submit your email address through the BatNote website to receive launch updates or product news, we store your email address for the purpose of sending BatNote related updates.

You may unsubscribe from these communications at any time.

Data Retention

Email addresses submitted for updates are retained only as long as necessary to provide communications. Users may request deletion of their email information at any time by contacting us.

Survey data recorded within the BatNote mobile application remains stored locally on the user’s device unless the user chooses to delete it.

Data Security

BatNote is designed with a privacy-first approach. Survey data is stored locally on the user’s device and is not transmitted to BatNote servers unless the user explicitly exports or shares it.

Children's Privacy

BatNote is designed for use by professional ecological consultants and is not intended for use by children.
